YOUR GUIDE TO MOTHER-OF-PEARL

In anticipation of the upcoming fall and winter seasons, we are adding a new element to our jewelry collection this month with the new Heart Mother-of-Pearl collection. A translucent mother-of-pearl is set in the center of the classic heart. The misty softness of the mother-of-pearl contrasts with the heart's distinctly vintage feel, creating an autumnal ambiance.

WHAT'S MOTHER-OF-PEARL

Mother-of-pearl belongs to the shellfish family and is a mixture of organic and inorganic materials produced by mollusks as the inner layer of the animal's shell. Its main ingredient is calcium carbonate, which decomposes when exposed to acid, and oxidizes faster when exposed to high temperature and humidity. Mother-of-pearl is a strong, flexible material that comes in a variety of vibrant colors.

HOW TO CARE FOR MOTHER-OF-PEARL

1. Avoid contacting with acidic substances. Perfume, shower gel, cosmetics and hairspray can easily make mother-of-pearl lose its luster and gradually turn yellow, or even lead to changes in appearance and shape.

2. Avoid contacting with water. Mother-of-pearl touching water will affect its luster. If you want mother-of-pearl jewelry to maintain its luster for a long time, please do not wear it when taking a bath.

3. Avoid exposure to high temperature environment, because high temperature will speed up the oxidation of mother-of-pearl. It is recommended not to wear it when exercising, and do not let mother-of-pearl exposed to the sun for a long time.

4. Clean it in time after wearing. If the mother-of-pearl appears dirty, please use a soft dry cloth to gently wipe the jewelry.

5. Avoid storing with other jewelry. Mother-of-pearl is relatively sensitive, so they should be placed in a separate box or bag to avoid scratches with other jewelry.
